About

Dr. Dorothy M. Dye was born in Detroit, MI and presently resides in Valdosta, GA.  She was added to the Body of Christ in 1991 under the ministry of Bro. Leroy Butler, Jr. at the West Adair Church of Christ (now Woodlawn Forrest Church of Christ).   She is the mother of two, and grandmother of five.  She is the widow of Bro. Leon G. Dye, who was a Gospel preacher in the Lord’s Church.

Dr. Dye is a Christian Clinical Counselor with degrees in Religious Studies and  Christian Clinical Counseling, with a concentration on Temperament Therapy.  She works at Valdosta State University as the Program Director of the Learning Service Center through the Department of Social Work.   The program operates a daycare facility for persons who are in the early stages of Alzheimer’s Disease, and also provides educational services to family caregivers.  The program also sponsors health-related workshops to inform the community about this dreaded disease.  Additionally, she is employed with Pathway to Hope Counseling Services to help individuals and families to resolve issues that would threaten to destroy the sanctity of their family life.    She is very involved in the community, having worked with the Homeless Coalition, the Pines Family Campus, the Well-Church Council, The Haven (a domestic violence shelter for women and their children), and other community-based organizations.  She holds certification in the areas of domestic violence, grief recovery, premarriage/marriage, anger management, and substance abuse intervention.  Dr. Dye has provided counseling services for the Family Life Center of the Woodlawn-Forrest Church of Christ for the past several years.
